I was born in Ipswich, Suffolk and from a very early age just wanted to 'do art'. I studied graphic design and illustration at Colchester School of Art and Norwich School of Art culminating in a B.A. (Hons) in 1984.

After running my own graphic design business for 25 years, in 2017 I returned to watercolours, a medium that I have always loved, painting seascapes and landscapes. Not the easiest of mediums to use, which is really part of its charm, the unpredictability of how it will ebb and flow. I love painting the coastline, creeks, estuaries and landscapes of Suffolk and Essex. A constant source of inspiration, delight and fascination.

As well as using watercolours in a more realistic, traditional style, I have recently, inspired by the sea and shore and tidal inlets and marsh pools, discovered the joy of creating semi-abstract work with watercolour collage. Sometimes this is more like watercolour marquetry, cutting and fitting together pieces of painted paper to create an image.
